About Samarth-class offshore patrol vessel 

The Samarth-class offshore patrol vessel are a series of eleven offshore patrol vessels being built by Goa Shipyard Limited for the Indian Coast Guard. They are an improvement over the earlier Sankalp class. The ships are being constructed in two batches—a batch of six ordered in May 2012 that was completed in December 2017 and a follow-on batch of five ordered in August 2016.

African swine fever (ASF) is a highly contagious haemorrhagic viral disease of domestic and wild pigs, which is responsible for serious economic and production losses.

It is caused by a large DNA virus of the Asfarviridae family.

Routes of transmission can include:

direct contact with infected domestic or wild pigs;
indirect contact, through ingestion of contaminated material (e.g. food waste, feed, or garbage);
contaminated fomites, or biological vectors (soft ticks of the genus Ornithodoros) where present.

ASF is not a risk to human health.
